Africa is a vast continent with 54 UN recognized countries. As the second largest continent, it could take years to fully explore, and by that time, it will surely have changed drastically through areas of political turmoil, war, and civil unrest. The history has intrigued visitors for centuries and continues to do so with such raw nature and the last frontier for many wild animals. Culture is very divided regionally, as you will see distinct differences by country, especially between the Southern, East, West and North African nations.
We spent nine months travelling through Africa visiting 15 nations, and while we still have many countries more to visit, we covered a lot of ground. We started in Namibia and worked our way up to Egypt going through East Africa. There was so much diversity in what to see, from spectacular mountains with epic hiking, amazing cultural villages, stunning white sand beaches, and of course, seeing the most amazing wildlife while on safari. It can be a tough place to travel, with poor infrastructure in some places, and very high prices for tourists. There are some countries that are better for those on a budget, while others are quite expensive. One thing is for sure, there is a little bit of something in Africa for everyone!
